The Mirror
You are back here. Tonight, you see a mirror on the wall. The walls of the maze seem lighter, as if each surface is a pane of glass. All of the layers, the walls of this maze, form a sharp haze of blue-green. Even though the material is different, this is still the maze inside of you. You look into the mirror. The light is dim. So dim, you barely look human. A dark grey outline of a chest and shoulders. The skin on your arms is lighter, so close to the light source in your hand. You cannot see your face. Why does this bring tears to your eyes? Your fingers speed up, pulse quickens, throat closes. You cannot see your owm face.
I want you to think all the way back to childhood. A youthful experiment conducted in a dark forest, a stranger across from you. As you stared at their face, their features slowly smudged. They whirled down a drain, until their face was a homogenous grey pool of water that was too murky to sustain any sort of reflection. Tonight, in this maze, in this mirror, this story comes to mind. Your faceless body resembles the one in the forest.
So what!>
